Colbert Lawn Care

About Colbert Lawn Care

Riverside, Iowa, has claimed the future birthplace of a certain fictional space captain, but its present-day pride stays closer to the ground. Colbert Lawn Care tends that ground in the long June evenings, when the sun slants low across Washington County and fresh clippings scent the air. Each pass of the mower lays down an even stripe, and each trim along the sidewalk leaves a line straight enough to sight down. Beyond the last houses the river bottoms open wide and green, and the yards in town answer them with their own tidy geometry. It is a frontier measured in front lawns, and Colbert works it one Riverside yard at a time.
