River City Removal

About River City Removal

Out on the open prairie around Rhodes, winter does not so much fall as travel, riding the northwest wind across bare fields and piling into drifts wherever a house or fence gives it somewhere to stop. River City Removal works those drifts in the dark hours, plowing driveways so neighbors can pull out and head to work by first light. Walkways get shoveled down to the pavement, and steps and entries are treated against the ice that forms when a thaw slips back into a freeze. There is quiet pride in it: headlights sweeping across a fresh-cut path, porch lights still burning, the whole town opened back up before most of it is awake.
