About Green Tree Co.

Red Oak's loess hills rise and drop in a way flatter Iowa never does, and the East Nishnabotna cuts a slow line through the bottomland below town. Green Tree Co. takes the high ground first when snow falls — those bluffs hold wind and drift hardest — clearing driveways on the ridge streets before working down toward the river-side neighborhoods. From there the crew reaches out to Stanton and Emerson once Red Oak's own blocks are done, then circles back for the commercial stretch near the courthouse. Winter dusk comes early to the valley, and the last porch lights downtown are usually the ones a plow passed under not long before. Red Oak wakes to hillside streets already bare, river fog only just starting to lift off the bottomland.
