Big Creek Lake sits just north of Polk City, and on a June morning its surface goes flat enough to hold the whole sky. Country Clippers works the yards below that shoreline — mowing on a clean line, trimming close to the fence posts and the mailbox, edging the walk until the concrete shows a true border again. Out here the wind comes across open water and the grass leans with it, so timing a cut matters as much as the cut itself. By the time the boat trailers start rolling up Highway 415, the clippings are cleared, the beds are pulled, and the lawn looks like someone paid attention. That is the whole point of the work: a yard that makes a person slow down in their own driveway.
