About Willow Lawn Cemetery

In September the soybean fields around Plainfield turn to old brass, and the long light of harvest lies across the Willow Lawn grounds late in the day. Mowing here stays steady even as harvest hurries the farm calendar along, the grass kept short and level from the entrance to the farthest row. Edging along markers and plot corners leaves nothing ragged for a visitor's eye to catch. Grain trucks rumble along the roads beyond, and inside the grounds everything is calm and orderly. Plainfield keeps a little stillness here, and patient mowing is how that stillness holds.
