Elite Lawn Mower

About Elite Lawn Mower

Late in the day the brick fronts along Willis Avenue hold the heat, and the light comes down Second Street the color of ripe wheat. That is Elite Lawn Mower's favorite hour to finish a yard: the mower cooling, the stripes still bright, the smell of cut grass moving down the block ahead of the truck. The work is plain and it is done plainly — grass cut to an even height, the string trimmer run around every post and meter and mailbox, walks edged so the lines stay honest. Perry's yards run from narrow town lots to wide corner properties with room to turn, and each one gets the pattern that suits it. By dusk the street looks tended, which is the entire point.
