Groat Mowing & Snow

About Groat Mowing & Snow

There's a grain elevator standing over Otho that you can see from every one of the town's handful of streets, a fixed point in a place small enough to know by name rather than address. Groat Mowing & Snow works those same few blocks through the winter, clearing driveways tucked close along streets that run out into open Webster County farmland within a quarter mile in any direction. A storm here doesn't announce itself with traffic backups, it announces itself with silence, snow filling a street that already sees more tractors than cars most days. Clearing a driveway before a resident heads out to check on livestock or drive the county road toward Fort Dodge means something concrete in a town this size. By the time the elevator's shadow shortens toward noon, the short list of streets here is passable again, drift to drift.
