About Spring Green

Indian Creek runs high and clouded after a May rain, and within two days the whole of Marion has gone a shade deeper green for it. Spring Green tends lawns through that surge — fertilization, weed control, mowing, aeration and overseeding — so the color holds well past the first hot stretch of June. Iowa turf is asked for a great deal: a soaking spring, a long humid summer, then an autumn that seems to arrive overnight. Most of the work is patient and nearly invisible, judged by whether a yard is still rich in August when the heat has flattened everything around it. Curb to back fence, even and unbroken — that is the result the whole program is aimed at.
