Toby's Lawn Service, Inc.

About Toby's Lawn Service, Inc.

Saturday morning in May, out along the Merle Hay corridor, the sprinklers are ticking and half of Johnston is drinking coffee on the front step. Toby's Lawn Service, Inc. is already three yards in by then, the mower laying its lines, the trimmer coming behind for fence posts and mailbox. Central Iowa spring grass grows like it is in a hurry, so the schedule is the service — same day, same route, nothing skipped. What a customer really gets is the small pleasure of not thinking about it: a lawn cut all one height, a sharp line beside the walk, the drive blown clear. Neighborhood work, done in the neighborhood, week after week.
