About Kaldenberg's PBS Landscaping & Lawn Care

The first warm week of April in Johnston smells like thawed ground, and everything that was gray through March starts pushing green at once. Kaldenberg's PBS Landscaping & Lawn Care meets the season right at its opening — the yard uncovered, winter debris carried off, beds re-cut into firm lines, the first mow taken before the bluegrass gets ahead of itself. That opening cut sets the shape of the whole summer, and it feels like it. From there the work settles into weekly rounds through the neighborhoods between the creek bottoms and the ridge: mowing, trimming, and keeping the landscaping around a house in proportion to it. Iowa hands out about seven good growing months, and none of them get wasted.
