About Your Lawn Guy

Jesup wakes early. The elevator on the north edge takes the first light while Highway 20 hums a mile off, and the section roads run out straight into corn on every side. Your Lawn Guy is out in that hour, dew still beading on the blades, mowing the yards of a town small enough that the truck gets recognized before it parks. The job is simple and it is done all the way through — grass cut at one even height, the trimmer run around every post and mailbox, clippings blown out of the gutter line. By the time the day turns hot and the sky goes that wide Buchanan County blue, the lawn is behind him and looking like somebody cared about it.
