Morning comes up the Iowa River valley slowly, mist sitting on the water until the sun clears the bluffs, and by then YARDS by Wes is already unloading. This is lawn care shaped by an Iowa City of oak shade and old brick streets — the long slopes above Manville Heights, the wide flat green near City Park, the narrow Longfellow lots where a mower has to know every corner by feel. Wes mows, edges, string-trims and keeps turf fed through a humid river-valley summer, the kind where one warm rain overnight puts on more growth than a whole dry week. The pride is in the finish: a straight edge running along a limestone curb, the clean seam where grass meets walk, a yard that reads as tended rather than simply cut. When October turns the oaks loose all at once, the leaves get gathered off so the turf goes into the cold with room to breathe. Work runs from Iowa City out to Coralville, North Liberty, Tiffin, Solon and West Branch.
