About Metro Area Removal, LLC

Where Hiawatha's segment of trail ties into the Cedar River Trail and carries walkers on into Cedar Rapids, the parking areas take a beating every storm — plowed once by whoever gets there first, then packed down hard by cars before anyone gets back to finish the job. Metro Area Removal treats that stretch, and the streets feeding it, as one continuous route rather than a border between two towns, since the snow certainly doesn't recognize the city line. Late afternoon, with the light going flat and gray over the connector path, is often when the second and third passes happen — hauling what the morning plow pushed into embankments back out of the way entirely. It's less visible work than a fresh drive at dawn, but it's the difference between a lot that's technically plowed and one that's actually usable by evening. Keeping that Hiawatha-to-Cedar-Rapids link open is a small, steady piece of what gets the whole area through a storm.
