Brown's Lawn & Landscape

About Brown's Lawn & Landscape

Hartley sits out on some of the flattest, widest ground in O'Brien County, the kind of prairie horizon where a person can watch a storm coming for twenty minutes before it actually arrives. Brown's Lawn & Landscape uses that warning well, staging its routes before the first flake so driveways along the old rail-line streets near downtown are already moving by the time the wind picks up in earnest. Out here the wind doesn't have a hill or a treeline to slow it down before it reaches town, so a plowed driveway can drift half shut again within the hour, and this crew plans on the second pass as much as the first. Grain elevators still mark the skyline the way the railroad intended when it laid this town out, and the streets running toward them get cleared early so the day's business can start on schedule. It's a wide-open, exposed kind of winter work, and Brown's meets it the same honest way every storm.
