This is Driftless country, land the last glaciers never reached, so it climbs and folds in a way that makes every clean lawn edge feel earned. Sandy Point tends the yards here, keeping the lawns of homes and cabins cut, trimmed and neat so they rest easy beside the broad Upper Mississippi. By midmorning the dew has burned off, an eagle may be working the channel, and newly cut grass glows green against the water. When the sun drops behind the Iowa bluffs and the river goes copper, a yard just mowed makes a fine place to watch it.
