Chad's Lawn Care

About Chad's Lawn Care

Harlan sits up in the rolling country of western Iowa with the courthouse tower over its square, and from the top of most streets the land rolls off in long green swells toward the Nishnabotna bottoms. May mornings come in cool and bright, grass growing fast enough to watch, and that is when Chad's Lawn Care gets moving — mowing, trimming and edging, yard by yard, across town. A hillside lawn takes a steadier hand than a flat one, and laying the stripes true on a slope is a small craft all its own. By afternoon a whole street can look freshly barbered, borders clean, walks swept behind. Ordinary work, and it makes a place look loved.
