Bob's Mowing

About Bob's Mowing

There is a morning every October when Griswold wakes to frost silvering the lawns and the Cass County hills look dusted with sugar. Bob's Mowing reads that morning as a hinge in the year, the last few cuts of the season behind it and the first plowable snowfall somewhere ahead. Through the growing months it keeps town lawns cut low and clean and trimmed tight along the fences; once winter drifts across the streets, it clears driveways and paths so folks can get to work, to school and to church. The payoff is plain: a yard that looks cared for in July and a driveway that is open in January. In a town the size of Griswold, a tidy lawn and a cleared drive are a kind of good manners.
