About Henriksen Contracting Inc.

Henriksen Contracting Inc. works the older grid of Grimes, the blocks laid out before the subdivisions crept west toward the fields, where the driveways are narrower and the trees along the curb are old enough to arch over the street. Evening is when this crew is often out, blue dusk gathering over rooftops as the temperature drops hard after a clear winter day, the kind of cold that turns yesterday's slush into a sheet by dark. There's a particular care in clearing a sidewalk on these older streets, uneven from decades of frost heave, that a newer block doesn't yet demand. Grimes by dusk goes quiet fast, porch lights coming on one by one, and the scrape of a blade against an old concrete driveway carries farther than it would at noon. By the time full dark sets in, the walk to the front door is one less thing anyone here has to think about.
