About Randy L Nelson Tree Care, LLC. ISA Certified Arborist

The West Fork of the Des Moines slips through Estherville between banks of cottonwood and ash, and the timber at Fort Defiance holds about the only hill country for miles. Tree care up here starts with looking — a thin canopy, early color, a fungus at the base, a lean that got worse over one winter; trees tell on themselves if you read them in the right season. Pruning follows what that look turns up: deadwood out, weight eased off the long limbs, young trees set on a good frame while the corrections are still small. Emmet County winters are long and wide open, and the tree still standing in February is usually the one whose health somebody paid attention to. When a tree is past keeping, removal is the honest answer, done cleanly, the yard left flat and clear.
