Midwest Pest

About Midwest Pest

Downtown Emmetsburg wears its Irish roots openly, iron shamrocks fixed along Main Street well before the town's big March celebration ever gets underway, and in the deep of winter those same sidewalks need clearing long before anyone's thinking about spring parades. Midwest Pest runs snow removal through the coldest months on those downtown blocks and the residential streets branching off them, plowing driveways and clearing walks storefront by storefront and house by house. The Des Moines River isn't far from Main Street, and cold air pooling up from the water can leave downtown Emmetsburg colder at street level than the open fields just outside town. Ice tends to form fastest in the shadowed lee of the taller Main Street buildings, holding on long after sunnier blocks have dried off. The company's winter routes stay close to the center of town, the same streets that fill with green banners and crowds once March arrives.
