About Nexus

At four in the morning in a northeast Iowa January, Elgin is nothing but porch lights and fresh white, and that is the hour Nexus goes to work. Clearing snow in Elgin means taking back what the night dropped on sloping side streets, opening driveways so a pickup can climb out without spinning a tire. The blade leaves a flat, scraped path and a tidy bank pushed well clear of mailboxes and garage doors. Cold pools in the low hollows around this little town, and a cleared drive becomes a small, stubborn kindness against it. When kitchens light up and coffee starts, the way out is already open.
