Where Earlham's fields drop down toward the Middle River, the ground turns to timber, oak and hickory holding onto the low bottomland the way they have since before the town was platted, and the houses tucked back in those tree lines get a different kind of winter than the open farmland does. TimberPine clears driveways for those wooded properties, where snow falls softer under cover but ices harder on the shaded curves where the sun never quite reaches. The work here is slower going, tight lanes threading between trunks instead of the wide-open passes a bare field allows, and a plow has to know the turns before the first snowfall ever comes. Fog tends to sit low in these bottoms on the mildest winter mornings, hanging in the timber until well past sunrise while the open ground beyond stays clear. The company also clears more ordinary driveways and walks across Earlham, but it's the timbered edges of town, the ones the river shaped, that give the name its meaning.
