Widmeier Landscaping and Snow Removal

About Widmeier Landscaping and Snow Removal

Dubuque sits in a bowl of limestone bluffs, and on a July afternoon the light comes up off the Mississippi and climbs the hillsides until every lawn in the north end glows. Widmeier Landscaping and Snow Removal works those slopes and river-flat yards alike — mowing on the contour, cutting a clean line where turf meets driveway, shaping beds and plantings so a yard reads finished from the street. There is a particular satisfaction in the last pass of the day: the stripe laid straight, the clippings swept off the walk before the mower has cooled. Come winter, when the wind runs down the Couler Valley and the barges have quit the river for the year, the work turns to snow — drives and lots opened wide, banks pushed back so the next storm has somewhere to go. It is the same ground either way, the bluffs above and the water below, and it deserves to look cared for.
