Steffen's Lawn & Snow Services

About Steffen's Lawn & Snow Services

Eagle Point Park sits high above the river with a view of the lock and dam and the long bend the Mississippi makes below Dubuque, and the driveways in the neighborhoods around it share that same high, exposed ground. Steffen's Lawn & Snow Services plows those streets with the wind in mind — a bluff-top storm can drift a driveway shut from the side even after the main pass is clear — and follows every plow run with de-icer on the walkways where the wind packs snow hardest against a front step. Residential routes stretch from the park's high ground down toward the flatter blocks nearer downtown, and the crew adjusts its equipment and timing between the two rather than treating the whole city as one surface. A river-valley system can dump snow on the flats and barely touch the overlook, or the reverse, depending on which way the wind's blowing that day. It's snow removal read block by block, the way a town built on bluffs and river bends really demands.
