About J&L Lawn Care & Landscaping LLC

DeWitt sits where two highways cross, and on a late-August evening the town settles into the particular quiet of a place ringed on all sides by fields. J&L Lawn Care & Landscaping LLC finishes plenty of its days in that hour — trailer loaded, the last yard on the route holding stripes that run straight from the drive to the back fence. The work behind it is ordinary and exacting: weekly mowing, trimming, edges cut in true, shrubs shaped back, beds kept dark and even. Out past the fairgrounds on the edge of town the section roads run to the horizon, and every farmstead keeps its own square of mown green against all that open ground; a yard in town is a smaller version of the same idea. Holding it there, week after week from thaw to frost, is the job.
