About Andresen Landscaping & Garden Center

April comes to DeWitt as a smell before it comes as a color: wet black dirt out in the fields, then a faint green rising on the lawns along the avenues. Andresen Landscaping & Garden Center works that turn of the year, taking the first cut of the season off a yard that has been gray since November. The routine after that is steady — mowing, trimming close to posts and foundations, edging where turf meets sidewalk and drive, and clearing the winter's litter of sticks and matted leaves off the grass. There is a plain satisfaction in a lawn that looks intentional: stripes running true, the line at the curb drawn sharp enough that a neighbor notices. Out here, where the section roads run straight to the horizon and US 30 carries the traffic through town, a tidy yard is how a house says someone is home. Same lawns, week after week, all the way to frost.
