Steve's Repair

About Steve's Repair

Defiance began life as Marmon, and when the railroad passed it by, the townspeople renamed it Defiance and took to calling themselves defiers. That stubborn streak still suits this small Shelby County town on the West Branch of the West Nishnabotna, tucked among the long, rolling hills of western Iowa. Steve's Repair does lawn care here, mowing yards that run right up to open farm country, where the grass is forever making a run at the fence line. The cut comes out even across the slope, the trim sits tight against foundations and mailbox posts, and the walks are left clean. Late on an August afternoon, with the cicadas buzzing, a yard kept like that holds its ground in the true spirit of a town called Defiance.
