About Hovey Enterprises

Out past the edge of Cresco, where the streets give way to gravel section roads and the wind has nothing to slow it down before the Minnesota line, a good snowfall doesn't so much fall as travel — drifting sideways across open fields until it piles against the first fence line or driveway it meets. Hovey Enterprises works that open country, clearing the long farm lanes and rural driveways that catch the worst of it. There's a rhythm to it: watch the forecast, load the truck before first light, work the lanes one by one until every mailbox and machine shed has a way in and out again. Howard County winters test a driveway more than a town street ever will, and there's real satisfaction in leaving a farmstead passable when the roads elsewhere are still drifted shut. It's steady work for a place that depends on getting the tractor, the school bus, and the mail through.
