Shades of Green

About Shades of Green

Clive's cul-de-sacs curl in every direction on the west side of the metro, and each loop collects snow a little differently depending on which way its garage doors face. Shades of Green works those loops through the winter, timed for weekend mornings when driveways need to be clear before anyone tries to back out with a car full of kids headed to the rink or the sledding hill by the retention pond. A whole loop of driveways finished in order, one after another, reads like a single clean sweep instead of a patchwork — a small, satisfying kind of order on an otherwise white morning. The crew keeps an eye on the low ranch roofs that shed snow onto walkways overnight, since a driveway cleared at six can need a second pass by nine. Block-by-block work like this suits a suburb built for exactly that kind of routine, and it holds no matter which direction the wind decides to blow through the cul-de-sacs that morning.
