Spring Green

About Spring Green

The thaw here is a sound before it is a sight: water moving somewhere under the ice, gutters running down the numbered avenues, Chancy Park going soft and brown at the edges. Then one Saturday in April the whole town smells like cut grass again. Spring Green handles lawn care through that turn and the long green months after it — mowing, trimming, edging, keeping a yard even and dense from the first pass of the year to the last. Iowa hands a lawn a short, generous season and a great deal of weather to survive, so the work is really a matter of steadiness. A yard that comes back thick every April is a small promise kept.
