Stevens Brothers Construction

About Stevens Brothers Construction

Late afternoon in Clarinda carries its own particular light in the middle of winter — low and orange over the rooftops east of the square, the kind that makes a freshly cleared sidewalk look almost warm. Stevens Brothers Construction times its second pass of the day for exactly that hour, when school lets out and the walk from the bus stop needs to be solid underfoot, not a skating rink. Page County kids cross the same handful of blocks near the hospital and the fairgrounds every winter, and a clean, salted walkway there means one less worry for a parent watching the clock. The brothers keep a steady, unhurried pace, the kind that comes from knowing every alley and cul-de-sac on their own side of town. By the time the streetlights click on, the walks are scraped to the concrete and the porches are clear.
