Powers Plowing & Lawn Care

About Powers Plowing & Lawn Care

Four in the morning, headlights full of falling snow, and the only sound on the street is a blade coming down on a driveway. Powers Plowing & Lawn Care runs the winter end of things in Cedar Rapids — plowing drives and lots, opening walkways, and putting salt where ice sets up in the shade and never lets go on its own. When snow lands all at once, everybody needs out at the same hour, and the work has to be ready for that. The work gets finished ahead of the school buses and the first shift, which is the entire measure of a night like that. By the time the sun comes up, the pavement is black and the day can start.
