Max's Snow Removal

About Max's Snow Removal

February has a trick it likes to play: a thaw all afternoon, then a hard clear night that turns every wet surface to glass. Max's Snow Removal reads that forecast the way other people read the paper — de-icer out ahead of the refreeze, walks scraped down to the surface so nothing has a place to set. Heavy snow gets the plow, driveways and lots around Cedar Rapids first, then the return trip once the county opens the road and pushes a ridge across the end of it. Out in the open the drifts sculpt themselves into shapes that look permanent until a blade comes through. Ice handled before daylight is a fall that never happened.
