On the west side, where the older homes sit close enough together that a driveway barely fits one car and the yards are more porch than lawn, Marty's Yard Maintenance works a route built for tight spaces rather than wide-open ones. There's no room here for a wide plow blade to swing — every drive is its own careful job, shovel and blower more than machine, done by hand where the space won't allow anything bigger. These are streets platted close a long time ago, before anyone thought a house would need two-car parking, and winter work here respects that instead of fighting it. A storm that barely registers out in the newer subdivisions can bury a narrow drive here just as deep, snow with nowhere to go but up against the neighbor's fence line. Getting each one clear, one after another down a block of houses standing shoulder to shoulder, is a different kind of job than the wide lots across town, and it gets done just the same.
