About Grass Roots Turf Management LLC

Elk Run Heights sits tucked against the timbered bluffs above the Cedar River just outside Waterloo, near enough the water that its cold reaches the streets before the rest of Black Hawk County feels it. Grass Roots Turf Management LLC works the driveways and yards along those bluff-side streets in winter, clearing snow from the same turf it shapes and mows once the ground thaws, where tree cover keeps some yards shaded and slower to clear than open ground nearby. A river valley holds onto its own weather, damp and heavy some mornings even when drier snow is falling just a few miles off on higher ground, and the crew adjusts its salt and plow timing to match. Driveways here often slope down toward the river, which means an icy patch can turn a short walk to the car into the trickiest part of the morning. The company's routes stay close to Elk Run Heights and the bluff-top streets that give the town its name and its view.
