Stews Lawn Service

About Stews Lawn Service

April's first cut is a small ceremony down in the bottoms — dew soaking through boots, the smell coming up green for the first time since fall. Stews Lawn Service starts the year there and holds it, mowing week by week, trimming the edges, raking out whatever winter left behind. Near Perkins Park the ground stays soft and the grass comes in thick, so the cut has to be read fresh at every visit. There is genuine pleasure in the pass where a shaggy yard turns back into a lawn, one width at a time. By the time July light stretches out long, it is routine — and routine is what keeps a place looking that way.
