TA's Tree Service

About TA's Tree Service

North of Boone the gravel roads run out to windbreaks and farmyards, and by January the wind has a straight shot at every one of them. TA's Tree Service works that direction as much as in town — thinning a spruce row, dropping the ash that finally died standing, pruning the limbs that hang over a machine shed and the lane the truck has to use. Winter suits the work: frozen ground, bare wood, and a clear view of what should stay and what should go. When ice or a straight-line wind lays timber across a field drive, the lane gets opened first and the mess in the yard comes after. Logs cut to stove length by the shed, the brush pile gone, and the place ready for whatever the sky does next.
