Bloomfield Square looks like a postcard even mid-storm: fifty-some brick storefronts built in the back half of the 1800s, ringed around a courthouse whose mansard roof and clock tower have long marked the center of Davis County. Snowman works that square and the blocks around it early, clearing the sidewalks that circle the courthouse lawn before shop owners arrive to open their doors onto the rolling hills that define this part of southern Iowa. Those hills mean the snow doesn't sit evenly here — a walk on the square's north side can hold ice for days after the sunnier south side has dried out completely. A company built around a name like Snowman clearing that same snow off century-old brick has a plain kind of logic to it: the work is exactly what it says it is. By midmorning the brick is showing through again, and the courthouse clock keeps its watch over a square that's been dug out once more.
