Johnston Stump Grinding

About Johnston Stump Grinding

Some late-summer days, vintage biplanes drone low over Blakesburg on their way to the Antique Airfield nearby, and the Wapello County yards beneath their wings lie green and wide. Johnston Stump Grinding has stumps in its title, and here it also takes on lawn care, keeping grass mowed and trimmed through the growing months. When winter lands on these southern Iowa hills, the work shifts to snow removal, pushing open drives and front paths for the people who live in town. Grass cut, snow cleared away — each job leaves the land set for whatever comes next. It's a satisfying rhythm in a place with this much sky overhead.
