Bettendorf climbs away from the Mississippi in a series of terraces, street after street stepped up the slope, and no two of those terraces hold snow and ice quite the same way depending on which direction they face. Terrific Terrains Landscaping reads those grades property by property — a terrace facing north can stay glazed for days after one two doors down, angled south, has gone bare in the sun — and clears driveways and front steps on that basis rather than on one fixed schedule for the whole block. A terrace that looked fine in the morning can need clearing again by late afternoon once the temperature drops and whatever melted through the day locks back into ice. The slope is what gives the town its shape, street by rising street, and it's also exactly why a single storm behaves like several different storms depending on which terrace it lands on. Getting the footing right on a steep grade matters here in a way it simply doesn't on flatter ground.
