About Brown's Landscaping

The Iowa River technically begins right at Belmond, where the East and West Branch Iowa Rivers come together in Wright County before the combined river takes its name and heads southeast toward the rest of the state. Brown's Landscaping clears driveways along the streets nearest that confluence, where cottonwood cover keeps the morning sun off the pavement longer than it does on the open blocks closer to downtown. Those shaded stretches hold their ice past the point where Main Street has already gone dry and bare, so they're usually the last blocks to fully clear each morning. Grain trucks and the school bus both need the same clear streets at the same early hour, and a driveway cleared before seven makes the rest of that morning easier for the whole block. There's something fitting about clearing snow at the exact spot where a river starts — a small, practical task done at the literal source of something much bigger.
