About Midwest Grounds Co.

August afternoons, the weather here announces itself early — a hard blue anvil building west over Saylorville, cottonwoods turning their leaves silver, and everyone in Ankeny checking the radar. Midwest Grounds Co. plans around that sky, finishing the open lawns before the first fat drops and coming back for the trimming once the storm has moved off east. What is left afterward is the good part: a lawn washed clean, striped, its borders sharp, steaming a little in the returning sun. Across the season it is mowing, string trimming and the cleanups that bracket either end of the year. The route holds Ankeny, Polk City, Grimes, Johnston and the Saylorville side.
