Weiss Tree Service

About Weiss Tree Service

An ice storm in Ames announces itself overnight — by morning the Skunk River bottoms are glass and something on the block has given way. Weiss Tree Service heads out into that: limbs off a roof, a split maple over a fence line, the driveway opened first so people can get where they are going. The rest of the year is steadier work, pruning in the streets around Brookside Park, balancing crowns that have grown heavy on one side, taking out what stands too close to a house. Winter tells the truth about trees; with the leaves down you can see the crossed branches, the old wounds, the limb that will not carry another load of ice. Cut right and hauled off, a yard comes back to spring with better bones.
