Ames Story Tree & Lawn

About Ames Story Tree & Lawn

North of town the water at Ada Hayden Heritage Park holds the whole sky all morning, and the wind that crosses it doesn't quit until it has been through every yard on the north side. Ames Story Tree & Lawn works in that open air — cutting at a height that lets grass shade its own roots, trimming close along fence lines and mailbox posts, edging drives back to their true width. Story County swings hard between a soaking May and a bone-dry August, so each visit means reading the lawn rather than repeating last week's setting. Autumn brings the hauling, oak and ash coming down all at once after the first hard night. A yard kept this way looks deliberate in any light, which is the entire point.
