Major Toms Lawn Care

About Major Toms Lawn Care

Come evening the Iowa sky does most of the talking. Out past the last streetlights on the edge of Altoona the horizon runs flat and unbroken, the color drains off to the west, and the stars come on over ground that was tallgrass prairie before it was town. Major Toms Lawn Care works right up to that hour — mowing, trimming, edging, hauling off clippings — closing out the day's final yard while the light goes long and orange. A lawn cut at that hour holds its stripes well into the dark, and the smell of it stays in the street for an hour afterward. It is a small thing to hand somebody, and it is a good one.
