Capital Heights, Lawn, and Snow

About Capital Heights, Lawn, and Snow

Altoona was named for high ground, and you believe it in January, when the wind comes off the open fields north of the interstate and lays snow across a driveway in long white ridges. Capital Heights, Lawn, and Snow works the dark end of those mornings — plowing, shoveling walks down to bare pavement, opening a path to the mailbox before the buses run. Come April the same routes turn green and the job changes hands: mowing, trimming, edging, staying ahead of a Polk County spring that shows up all at once. Two seasons, one town, the same driveways. The pride is identical either way — a property that looks finished, whether the line is a mower stripe or a plow's clean edge against the curb.
