North of Atlantic the old Schildberg quarries hold water now, and on a July morning the mist lifts off them before the town is properly awake. That is the hour AAA Lawn Care AC Iowa likes — dew still heavy, air cool enough to work in, the first stripe of the day laid across a wet-dark yard. The mowing goes down while the light is low; trimming and edging follow it around the walks and the fence. By the time the heat settles over Cass County the yards are cut, the drives blown clean, and the route has moved on. Leaving a whole block behind you looking cared for is its own reward.
