About Lundy Lawns

West of Adel the gravel roads run straight as rulers between fields, and the yards out there are big enough to see weather coming across them. Lundy Lawns takes on that kind of ground at midday, when the corn is talking in the wind and the only shade is whatever the machine shed throws. Acreage lawns ask for patience: long open runs, then close work around the mailbox, the culvert, the propane tank, the line of windbreak trees. Everything gets trimmed and edged so the mowed ground ends where it is supposed to and the rest of the country begins. Pulling out at the end, with the dust settling and the yard sitting clean against all that open field, is worth the drive.
