Kokua Tree Care

About Kokua Tree Care

Late in the afternoon the fog slides down the mountain into Makawao and the false-front storefronts along Baldwin Avenue go soft at the edges. Kokua Tree Care works these paniolo pastures and upcountry yards, where eucalyptus and Norfolk pine stand tall enough to be picked out from the road down by Pāʻia. Pruning keeps them in hand — dead limbs out, crowns balanced, branches cut back from roofs and fences before the mountain wind gets to them. Removing a tree that size is slow, planned work, taken down in sections with the drop zone paced out first. When a storm rakes the slope and blocks a pasture lane, the crew cuts through it, loads the wood and leaves the ground clear.
