Gonzalez Maintenance

About Gonzalez Maintenance

Kaimukī late in the day turns gold: the sun drops behind the ridge, Waiʻalae Avenue goes warm, and the small squares of lawn behind the storefront blocks take on the color of good tea. Gonzalez Maintenance is the reason a fair number of them stay that way — mowing on a set schedule, edging drives and walkways, cutting hedges and shrubs back to shape, clearing the yard debris out. Upkeep on this side of Honolulu is a long game, since the grass never stops and so the calendar cannot either. Done right, it barely announces itself; you notice a mess, not the maintenance behind its absence. A trim lawn, a swept walk, nothing left in the gutter.
